In 2012, Societe Brewing Company began production and opened their doors to a warm welcome from the craft beer community. Their brewery and tasting room occupy a 16,000 sq. ft. building in San Diego, California – arguably the premier craft beer city in the nation. Their family of beers is made up of Out West hoppy ales, Belgian-inspired Old World brews, dark Stygian beers, and wine-barrel aged Feral sours handcrafted on a 20 barrel brewhouse. The beers are available locally throughout San Diego and at our 3,000 SF tasting room, which showcases the brewing process with an unobstructed view of the barrel room and brewery. The name of the brewery is an homage to beer as the planet’s greatest social uniter. Beer has persistently brought people together for centuries, ignoring class, race, creed, religion, sex, age and any other imaginable barriers to human connection. Beer is democratic. Beer is culture. Beer is Societe.

Cool winter weather calls for a big roasty dark beer that will warm the body!  That is why Suds Duds Society and Societe Brewing Co. decided to highlight their Imperial Stout The Butcher.  The Butcher is a rich yet impressively drinkable imperial stout with profound roasted malt character and a velvety smooth body that conceals its alcoholic fortitude. A dense, cocoa-colored head delivers chocolaty aromas that segue beautifully to bittersweet, roasty flavors evocative of French Roast coffee. Key ingredients include Golding hops, roasted malts, oats, and Orc’s Blood.  When they drink The Butcher they indulge their inner-beasts by cranking up the death-metal and breaking out the boudin noir.  This BIG imperial stout has garnered a gold medal in the imperial stout category at the 2013 San Diego International Beer Festival and a 92-point score from Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine.
